WRNT is pleased at the success of the 2006-2007 Challenge Grant

An anonymous donor generously offered a $1-for-$1 Challenge Grant to Westie Rescue of North Texas.  Under the terms of the Grant, for every dollar raised by WRNT, the Grantor matched those funds $1-for-$1, up to $500 per month.

The terms of the grant, as proposed by the Grantor and unanimously approved by the WRNT Board were as follows:

1. At the end of the month, the Grantor matched $1-for-$1 all unrestricted donations to WRNT up to a total of $500 each month. Months in which the Challenge Grant was not fully utilized were not carried over (i.e. If December's Eligible Donation is $400, January's limit is still $500, NOT $600)

2. Challenge Grant funds were available for donations only and 50% of adoption fees, but not purchases or special event expenses (Such as wine tasting purchases).

3. The Grantor was to remain anonymous to the public. If the name of the Grantor was made public the Challenge Grant would be withdrawn.

4. The Board designated Grant Funds as Operating Funds.  They did this as Operating Funds can always be used for either rescue or operations.

5. All Grant Funds, once donated, were irrevocably the property of WRNT and are to be used in accordance with the Fund into which they were deposited (Rescue vs. Operating).  The Grantor exerted no additional control over the Funds once donated and sought no quid pro quo or other consideration.

6. The Grantor asked WRNT to provide a Tax Receipt as the only recognition of donated Grant Funds.

7. WRNT publicized the Challenge Grant in ways deemed appropriate by the Board.

8. The Challenge Grant matched unrestricted contributions from TVWHWTC in the month in which they were received.

9. The Board unanimously approved these conditions on 22 June 2006 via an email vote before the Challenge Grant became operational.
