Description:
Mack came to us from an Animal Shelter. He was frightened and
very timid although he showed no aggression. He appeared to be
malnourished. He has been brought up-to-date on his shots and
neutered. Our rescue vet believes Mack is about 5 years old.
Here is what his Foster Mom had to say about him:
Mack is
doing just fine. He is getting along well with the other dogs and
this morning is starting to play and run around with them. He has
decided that I am his person and follows me everywhere. He is a loving
little guy and starved for affection and very, very cute.
We
believe that he may have been abused by a man as he was fearful of Jim
at first. Jim has been working with him and is now able to get
Mack to come to him. ... We are going to work on door manners
today because I am sure that if he got a chance he would be off and
running down the street...

Mack's
behavior has improved vastly in the past two days, much to our
delight. He had become very attached to Jim and had no
snappy incidents with our dogs in the last two days. I think
working with him a lot and tons of attention from us and playing
with the fur kids has done wonders for him. He has learned not to
be so fearful and trust humans and other dogs. He really was so
starved for affection and has a great personality. It is
amazing that he is resilient enough to overcome the bad past and start
becoming more like a normal Westie in such a short time. This
morning they were all (five) running around the house and rolling all
over the floor together playing "wild dogs" and there were no
incidents. He was a different dog than the Mack that came on
Monday night. With continued love and attention I believe he will
continue to thrive.
UPDATE: Mack's
been adopted! Unlike the frightened boy he was when we rescued him
from the shelter, he took right up with his new Forever Family and even
let his new Dad hold him! Given his fears, this really surprised
everyone! Here a few pictures of Mack who was so wore out he fell
asleep in his new Mommy's lap!
