June 17, 2006 --
Westie Rescue of North Texas is pleased - and a little sad - to see our beloved Mac go to a wonderful new home. Forever Mom, Connie, didn't take very long to realize that Mac was the little man she was looking for. After the usual application and home visit, Connie made the rather long trek to our Foster Family's home to see if Mac was the right Westie for her. It didn't take long to realize that Connie and Mac were a match made in Westie Heaven!
Mac has now been given a slightly new name, MacGuyver, and an all new place to live. While our Foster Family was sorry to see him go, we're all thrilled that such a wonderful little man has been blessed with such a caring, kind and devoted new Forever Family.
Here's
the latest pic of Mac with his new Mom, Connie.
We wish Mac and Connie many years of happiness and blessings.
This is what Westie Rescue is all about: taking a sick, afraid dog from an awful place to a loving home. It makes all the effort worthwhile.

UPDATE:
Little Mac has found his Forever Home. His skin is clear, his ears
are clean and his coat is soft and thick. The WRNT Foster Program is
sorry to see him go, but is excited at what's in store for this
sweet little boy.
McDermot's Story McDermot came to WRNT as a stray from a local animal shelter. He entered the WRNT program on March 31, 2006. Mc Dermot is between 2 and 3 years old. When we came to WRNT he had tapeworms, heartworms, malnutrition and a severe skin and ear infection. McDermot was placed on a regimen of special food to increase his liver and kidney functionality as well as help fight the skin infection. The tapeworms were treated and he is now tapeworm-negative. McDermot's skin was black, crusty and oozing and itched tremendously. With a short course of antibiotics and anti-itch medication, coupled with twice-weekly oatmeal baths we have cleared up this problem nicely. His skin is now almost entirely soft and pink and he is regaining some of his lost fur. McDermot's ears were infected and impacted with debris. A gentle cleaning twice each week and daily eardrops have now yielded a perfectly healthy set of pink ears! Initially we thought he was hearing-impaired. McDermot was not healthy enough for the standard heartworm treatment because of his liver/kidney impairment. Little Mac had his second (and final) heartworm treatment on 01-May-06 and is doing exceptionally well. He is now officially Heartworm-Negative and in excellent health. McDermot is a delightful, sweet little boy. He has a wonderful, feisty disposition. Always gentle with humans, he's not fond of other dogs and can get quite territorial. A little "love-sponge", he craves affection and is such a little clown that you can't help but laugh when he's in the room. We think he was, at one point, a house pet as his dew-claws have been removed, and he shows some signs of knowing what it means to live indoors. House training is a bit lacking, but he's improving every day. By the time he leaves Foster Care he may be largely house-trained. Mc Dermot is unsuitable for a multi-dog household and will require a firm hand from his Forever Family. He's very intelligent and wants to please. We're not sure about how he will interact with children, so we're advising against a household with young children at this time. Given the rough start this little guy had, we're looking for a very special family to be his Forever Home. If you have room in your heart for a little clown of a pup, who will steal your heart in about a microsecond, please let us know. Fill out an adoption form and help us find the perfect home for our "Little Mac". |
