January, 2007 --
Westie Rescue is pleased to find that perfect Forever Home for Todd.
Todd's new Forever Mommy, Pat, has adopted Todd as a companion for her current 14-year old Westie, MittiSu. Like all good Westies (even older ones!) there was some "getting-to-know-you" posturing, but Todd and MittiSu have now become fast friends. It's always a great day at Westie Rescue when one of our Seniors finds a Forever Home, but Todd is exceptionally fortunate - he has a wonderful Forever Mom (who knows that older Westies need a little more love and support) and a sister to play with - who isn't a spring chicken either! We're so delighted at this wonderful turn of events.

We are assisting in the placement
of a very nice Senior Westie, "Todd".
His current owners, who have provided a good home for him, will make the final decision on a new home. It must be a home with no young children in residence. Todd is 10 years old. He has been with his current owner since she was a teenager, and through college and marriage. They now have a young child, a toddler who is starting to crawl around the home, and who is still too young to understand the "do's and don't"s of how to behave around a dog. There is another dog in the home, a terrier mix, and the child will pull its hair. When the child approaches Todd, he sometimes growls, to warn her off -- but she doesn't understand that. The parents are concerned that the growling could lead to something worse, and are reluctantly seeking a new home for Todd. Todd is a nice looking dog -- the breeder told the owner he had some champions in his pedigree. He is friendly with adults, and has no known health problems. His shots are all up to date, and he has been on regular Heartguard medication. He does have a bit of arthritis, which keeps him from jumping up on the couch as he once did, but he has no difficulty walking or playing. He also sleeps a little more than he did as a youngster. Todd would be ideal for someone who wants a loving dog who is a bit less active than very young Westies. Our Todd should have several good years in him yet, and appears to be the sort who will repay love and affection manyfold. Read our Note About Seniors Here
