June 13, 2006 --
Barney is a wonderful little man with no known
health problems. When surrendered to WRNT he was heartworm positive,
but appropriate veterinary treatment and a loving Foster Family have made
that a thing of the past. We estimate him to be 1 1/2
to 2 years old. Barney was surrendered to us by a caring family who
had taken him in for a short period of time as a stray near their lake
home.
Once Barney is finished with his heartworm treatment he'll be ready for his Forever Home. He's a grand boy, weighing in at about 19 pounds and is well proportioned...and as you can see by his pictures, as cute as they come! He is housebroken, but isn't allowed free run of the house just yet. He's quite content in his indoor pen and doesn't run away when he's let out in the front yard. Barney is good with other dogs and young children, but, like all Westies, may not be so fond of cats.....
Barney appears to be one of the most agreeable, unflappable, and generally "laid back" Westies that we have encountered in our rescue work. Nothing seems to bother him. Considering the fact that he was lost, picked up as a stray, and has now been living in three different homes in the past three months (two before he was surrendered to rescue), which is really remarkable.
Barney
has now gone to his Forever Home and it looks like this little guy has
Smooooth Sailing from now on!
