(NOTE: Success Stories are written by our adoptive Forever Parents)
Badger, originally known as Little Bit, came to Westie Rescue as a four month
old puppy in September 2004. The couple who originally purchased Little Bit
reluctantly surrendered him because he was just too active for them. Westie
puppies will definitely keep you on your toes! We are absolutely delighted to
have him join our family of other Westie rescues. With a lot of love and a
little guidance, he has
grown
into a sweet, wonderful dog. He is so smart and aced obedience class. We can't
imagine life without him. Badger is a dog who definitely does not lack for
anything. He is all Westie in his attitude and demeanor. He is confident, sweet,
funny, very active and just a precious little dog. Upon meeting this little guy,
he will shake, catch, and do "high fives" as well as many other
tricks. When you look at his sweet little face you will absolutely melt. Oh,
yeah, you better learn to throw that tennis ball because he will keep bringing
it to you. He is great at giving Westie kisses as well!
Badger gladly accepted the role of neighborhood ambassador. He has several dog friends who visit for "play dates" on a regular basis. Badger has so much spunk that he always has time and energy to spare for guests to come play. Badger is always the first to welcome people and animals into his home. He still isn't sure about cats. Our neighborhood cats know how to taunt him by walking up and down the sidewalk flicking their tails at him. Badger barks and sniffs, but stays at a safe distance. The house cat at the vet tolerates him well.
We have another rescue, Winston, who plays non-stop with him. Both have become very adept at keeping all the birds out of the bird feeder. Badger is has two speeds: stop and go. He is either full force or he is sound asleep. Just give him a little attention and he is oh so happy to play. Right now, he is sitting patiently under my chair with his ball.
Badger
has definitely brightened our lives with his presence. He is a constant joy and
source of entertainment. He thoroughly enjoys his daily walks around the
neighborhood and walks so well with the pack. With proper training and guidance,
Badger has become a very well mannered boy. He is spoiled rotten and returns the
favor with so much love and devotion that you just can't do it justice by
putting it into words.
