Remembering Jo Unbehaun

Hello, friends of WRNT! Today, December 6, 2025, was a big day for us - the kind of day that makes you smile, tear up a little, and then immediately want to hug a Westie.

Our friend, supporter, and board member Jo left us a little over a year ago. Jo had a smile that could brighten even the dullest party and a gift for bringing energy, devotion, and thoughtful ideas to our rescue. We miss her very much.

Jo was also a devoted agility fan - she joined the Dallas Agility Working Group (DAWG - how cool of an acronym is that?) and ran her Westie in competitions. Who knew a Westie could run agility? They CAN, and they DO…usually in the direction they choose, but still!

Today, Janie (Treasurer) and Shasta (Chairman) had the honor and privilege of accepting the inaugural donation from DAWG to WRNT in memory of Jo. Starting this year, DAWG has pledged a perpetual gift to support our mission to rehabilitate, rehome, and rescue Westies in need. Thank you, DAWG! And thank you to Jo's family for being there in support.

And we know Jo is still cheering us on - probably from a heavenly agility course where every jump bar stays up and every dog goes home with a ribbon.

2023 Westie Walk

Our 2023 Westie Walk was a success! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the event, and thank you to our volunteers who ensured a good time. The rain cleared out, and although it was soggy, spirits were high. We had a Dolly Parton, an Elvis in a Lambo, a princess and an angel named Ruby Rose (never mind she can be a little devil too!). We bowled Westies! We remembered our dearest departed Westies and enjoyed Jimmy the Bagpiper's dulcet tones during "Scotland the Brave." All in all, it was a great day.

See you next year!
